It was designed by the legendary engineer Vittorio Jano who had recently been poached from Fiat by Alfa boss Enzo Ferrari. This beautiful new Alfa Romeo, powered by an 8 cylinder 2.3 litre engine, replaced the 6C 1750 and soon came to dominate endurance racing taking first place at Le Mans every year from 1931 to 1934.
