New Alfa Romeo poster

Article text
This is my first new car poster for over two years and I'm very excited. The research for this new piece has taken some time to pull together, but I've also been kept very busy on other projects, which hopefully explains the delay in its publication.

This poster has been great fun to do, especially working out the basic design, and I think that the simplicity is the key to the success of this image. I needed to tell the story of this great sporting event in the most immediate way possible, remembering that posters are always designed to be read quickly in passing.

The text was hand drawn, based on similar lettering styles from the period, in the colours of the Italian flag, and placed on a background colour closely resembling the 'azzurro' of the national football team's shirts.

Additional impact is achieved by punching a dynamic drawing of the red car out of the deep azure sky, with the blue Bugatti lost in the background.

Through these simple graphic devices I hope to convey the full story of this dramatic motor race.

This new poster is now available for purchase in the Alfa Romeo section of the galleries.
